Week 4 (FYP Semester 1)

This is a little preview of my Final Year Project:

Wireless power transfer (WPT) or wireless electricity generate from a power source to an electrical load without man-made conductors. Wireless electricity is useful in cases where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous or impossible.
WPT is a concept of transferring the power of electromagnetism from the primary coil into the secondary coil without using any wires. There are several ways to produce WPT which is near field technique and far-field technique.
Near field technique is the technique that used to produces WPT in a short distance. There are three ways to produce WPT using near field technique that is:
i)             Inductive coupling
ii)            Resonant inductive coupling.
iii)           Air ionization
Far field technique is the technique that use to produce WPT in a long distance. There are two ways to produce WPT using far field technique which is:
i)             Microwave power transmission

ii)             Laser power transmission

Block Diagram of WPT operations:

The plan for this project is to create a system that able to transmit power wirelessly.Using inductive coupling, it can be achieved by connecting power supply to the system that uses magnetic field to transfer energy through air. The coupling system involves a transmitting coil sending energy to a receiving coil. This is done by sending an energy signal through transmitting coil, and creating a magnetic field. The receiving coil then creates energy using the magnetic field.
